SAG – KP Convergence Program
The SAG – KP Convergence Program aims at the empowerment of adolescent girls (age group 11–18 years) by improving their nutritional and health status, enhancing home skills, life skills, and vocational skills.
The program also equips them with information on health and hygiene, family welfare, and public services, enabling better education, awareness, and life opportunities.
It further focuses on mainstreaming out-of-school girls into formal or non-formal education systems.
Key Activities
- Selection of Sakhi and Saheli (Adolescent Leaders) at each Anganwadi Centre.
- Discussion sessions on menstrual hygiene.
- Awareness on the importance of taking Albendazole and IFA tablets.
- Education on the negative impacts of early marriage.
- Re-enrolment of school dropouts into nearby schools.
- Formation of Kishori Samuha (Adolescent Girls Groups).
Reach and Coverage
- Operated 866 Anganwadi Centres under the SAG–KP Convergence framework.
- Reached 13,470 adolescent girls through 5 ICDS Centres in North 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
- Directly benefited 27,090 children under 6 years of age.
- Trained 1,932 frontline workers (AWWs, ANMs, ASHAs).
Nutrition & Livelihood Initiatives
- Provided IFA supplementation, health check-ups, supplementary nutrition, and NHED.
- Promoted 500+ household kitchen gardens as a sustainable livelihood and nutritional support initiative.
- Encouraged communities to grow seasonal vegetables using local and indigenous varieties.
- Benefited 560 pregnant and lactating women through health education, service linkage, and counselling.
Health, Education & Skill Development
- Counselled 5,000+ adolescent girls on menstrual hygiene, mental health, and clinic linkage via Anwesha Clinics.
- Facilitated 168 school dropouts to re-enrol in school.
- Trained 300 adolescent girls in vocational and life skills through thread work, quizzes, and role-plays.
Community Engagement & Awareness
- Organised guardian meetings and field visits for community engagement.
- Conducted 188 nutrition camps and 132 community mobilization sessions.
- Reached 24,000+ community members with awareness on malnutrition, reproductive health, WASH, and government entitlements.
